Bob Boyd began his martial arts training in 1968. He received his first degree black belt in Uechi-ryu karate (Okinawan) in 1971. Bob trained directly under Grandmaster Kanai Uechi in 1973 and continued to study karate until 1985 when he retired as a fourth degree black belt. Bob began his tai chi training in 1983 under John Conroy of Providence, Rhode Island. Bob met Grandmaster Ip Tai Tak in 2000 and was formally accepted as his disciple and given the Chinese name Bao Tak Fai in 2001. Bob is the Executive Director of the Bao Tak Fai Tai Chi Institute in Burlington, Vermont, and is founder of the International Snake Style Association (ISSA) with certified and affiliate schools throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
